XFile can be purchased separately or is included as part of the FileUp Professional Edition package.
SoftArtisans XFile is a powerful ActiveX object with a non-visual COM file transfer engine. XFile is a complete HTTP client that may be used from Internet Explorer for Windows, Visual Basic, or through the Windows Shell Extension.
XFile contains additional features that help extend the feature-set of FileUp. XFile is included in FileUp Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition, or it can be purchased separately.
XFile's file transfer engine submits uploads
from client to server, receives downloads, and transfers files from server to server.
The file transfer engine (the XFRequest
object) can be used in client-side HTML code through the <object>
tag.
In addition to the file transfer engine - XFile's principal object - XFile includes
a visual upload control and a visual download control. Note that the file transfer
engine (the XFRequest
object) always sends and receives the
file transfer, while the visual controls provide a graphical user interface to use
with the file transfer engine. You must use the file transfer engine, but you do
not have to use the visual controls.
There are two editions of XFile:
